ABOUT ME

Barry O Brien served for over forty years in the Irish Police, An Garda Siochana, in various roles. His last position was Assistant Commissioner with responsibility for the country’s Northwestern Region. After retiring in 2022, he established his own business, operating as an independent Tour Guide, providing insights into Dublin’s historical and cultural past. It was the combination of his love of history, coupled with his knowledge and experience, which prompted him to write his debut novel, The Notetakers, which tells the story of the tumultuous months leading up to the 1916 Rising. He lives on Dublin’s Northside with his wife and two of his three adult children.
